My Favorite Things: Cross-Stitched Happy Birthday Tag

I'm so excited to participate with My Favorite Things as they share their brand NEW May 2018 release. This release has so many gorgeous new goodies for stamping and die cutting. You're going to love what's included. Today I'm sharing this cross-stitch "Happy Birthday" tag. With this amazing cross-stitch tag die, it makes easy work of adding embroidery floss as a background. Seriously I had way too much fun stitching this tag. Want to see the complete release and additional project ideas? Be sure to hop on over HERE to learn more on the MFT blog.

To create this tag, I die cut the outer tag shape and the inner stitching die from white cardstock. I used three threads of embroidery floss to cross-stitch a rectangle design in green on the tag. I think a heart, a circle, or even a rainbow would be so awesome with this die. The inner piece is designed to be taken out so you can just use the tag design or use the insert with the tag. I kept the insert intact. I may remove it later, but I kind of LOVE this whole concept.

I used the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from one of the new bunny stamp sets (see in shopping section below) and embossed the phrase with a light green embossing powder.

I used the rolled flower die to create some tightly rolled teal roses. You can make these flowers as tight or as loose as you want. I hand-cut leaves from green cardstock. Then I added some striped ribbon to the top of the tag. This tag really only used a few items, but boy it looks spectacular. I can't wait to try some other techniques with the tag and flower dies.
